Prempeh College was founded in February 1949 by the then-Gold Coast government in collaboration with Methodist and Presbyterian missionaries who had already established schools in Krobo-Odumase, such as the Wesley Girls High School and the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School, as well as the Ashanti Royal Kingdom.
