OPTIONAL PREP POLICY????, DSK Write
The rising population of students, I would say is not proportional to the facilities at our exposure. Libraries are used for personal studies and group works. But here in KNUST, because of the rising populace, students do not have the opportunity to use the libraries at most times since the libraries are mostly full or choked especially during revision and exams weeks.
The effect is quite precedented since students end up lingering about on campus looking for places to learn which can be very bad on their health and safety by prepping in the open at the exposure to mosquitoes and other insects. Hence an inadequacy in preparation towards exams and retardation of academic progress.
As a leader who has the interests of the students at heart, I sort to find a way to revert this alarming problem. My research led to a conclusion that this problem can be solved if we allow all functioning classrooms to be opened 24 /7 on a daily basis. It is something I call “THE OPTIONAL PREP POLICY”.
Classrooms normally close at 6pm; a DSK-led administration through strong advocacy will initiate a productive discussion with key stakeholders to ensure the closing time of these classrooms extend to 10pm and during exams and revision weeks opened for a 24 /7 operation.
This way, we do not only solve the problem of students loitering about looking for study areas, but we ensure their safety since the classroom areas have a conducive atmosphere and proper security. A reason this policy needs to be implemented is to provide ultimate security, prior to this, your welfare is assured of.
