Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology Knust; The Department has a long and illustrious history of academic and research distinction, as well as community involvement. We live in an era when researching biochemistry has never been more exciting, and there is a growing demand for both pure and applied biochemists all around the world to help us comprehend biochemical processes in living systems. Understanding biochemical systems and processes lead to solutions for issues like health and well-being, individual identification, sustainable agriculture and manufacturing, and impacts on safety and security.

Pure biochemistry, biotechnology, human nutrition and dietetics, forensic science, biodata analytics, and computational genomics are among the department’s programs. The Department uses biochemical, molecular, biophysical, and whole-organism methods. In-depth theoretical understanding, practical knowledge and skills, critical thinking, and information transfer are all emphasized in our well-designed program.

The department has seen consistent development in terms of numbers, quality, and community involvement throughout the years. The student population for 2021 is 916 undergraduates and 400 graduate students, up from 300 and 60 students in the previous five years. Seven faculty positions have been added in the previous two years to enhance the programs. As students develop a better awareness of the professional opportunities in biochemistry, the department will continue to expand.

We have information on our undergraduate and graduate programmes, course catalog, professors and staff, research activities, funding sources, entrance requirements, community involvement, production units, academia-industry relationships, and collaborators on our website. We appreciate your interest in our department and invite you to come to see us and learn more about our research and community involvement efforts.
